Ralph Vawter - Custom Wood Turnings

Gallery

You can look through the gallery here. All items are hand made by me, I do not buy and resell. These items are not necessarily all available as this gallery is for display purposes only. If you find something you like that is not available in the store, send me a message through the Contact Us page. It's possible I could make you another similar piece.

I will be adding pieces to the gallery, so come back often to see if anything you like has been added.

Latest Projects

It’s been a while since I did much work in the shop. I spent most of the summer doing outside projects, etc. that can’t be done in the winter time. (Or at least I don’t want to do them in the winter). In the last few weeks I’ve gotten back to doing a little work on the lathe. Here are my newest completed projects.

Mission_Kanahta_View_of_Kugluktuk_Nunavut_-_Small_f6880d06-44c3-4b55-a84a-fc80d19057e8_grandeI would like to officially congratulate Kanahta in the opening of their new online store.

Kanahta is an online and pop-up retail project, selling simple, well made things from the north; a curation of Canadian crafts for the home. They believe in collaboration, and the building of meaningful relationships with the people they work with. Their opening collection contains thirty-six essentials for Living, Playing and Eating, and a special collection of Vintage items, created by fifteen makers from across Canada.

I did a collaboration with Isac from Kanahta several months ago, and am happy to see their store MaplePlates--2online.

They have a 10% opening discount in effect until June 20, 2016.

You can find their site here: Kanahta. Sign up for their newsletter to stay up to date.

Cariboo Keepsakes

I just joined the Quesnel Crafter’s Society, and have a few of my items on display in their store. I will be adding more and encourage anyone in the Quesnel area or traveling through to drop in and have a look at the vast array of items, all made by local artisans.

Maple-Walnut Rolling Pin

I just finished this maple and walnut wood turned rolling pin. This is actually the monthly project for the local turning club meeting this coming Wednesday.
Overall length of rolling pin is 21 1/4", the rolling part is 12 3/4" long by 2 1/2" in diameter. Finish is pure Tung Oil (not polymerized). The handles are attached to each other by a through rod that turns freely inside the pin. Works much nicer than the one piece ones.

This is my first post on my new website. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions on my website. It is a work in progress.

Thanks,

Ralph
